Sometimes healing requires more than learning new coping skills. It requires identifying the core beliefs that keep shaping how you see yourself, interpret other people, and move through the world.
Here are 10 beliefs worth uprooting:
Something is fundamentally wrong with me.
You may have wounds and patterns to address, but you are not defective.Other people are constantly judging me.
CBT reminds us that assumptions are not evidence. You cannot treat imagined judgment as fact.I must fix myself before I can be seen.
Healing does not require hiding until you become a more presentable version of yourself.Other people must agree with me for my experience to be valid.
DBT teaches us that two perspectives can exist at once. Validation does not require agreement. If someone does not choose me, I must be unwanted.
Rejection, distance, and limited availability are not measurements of your worth.I must perform to deserve love and attention.
You do not have to be impressive, useful, entertaining, or emotionally profound to receive care.My current appearance defines who I am.
A temporary condition is not an identity. How you look today does not determine who you are.I must meet a certain standard to belong.
Belonging built on constant self-correction will always feel unsafe. My body determines whether I am attractive or worthy.
Your size does not revoke your beauty, sensuality, desirability, or humanity.I have to fit into every person, place, or community.
IFS teaches us to approach ourselves with curiosity and compassion. The goal is not to force every part of you to fit everywhere. The goal is to find spaces where you can remain whole.
Healing is not about correcting yourself into acceptability. It is about questioning the beliefs that taught you to abandon yourself in exchange for belonging.
You do not need to become someone else.
You need enough safety, self-compassion, and self-trust to become more of yourself.
